Newsleader – നാലു പതിറ്റാണ്ടി ലേറെയായ് റേഡിയോ അവതരണ ലോകത്ത് ശബ്ദ സൌകുമാര്യ ത്തിന്റെ നിലാവ് പരത്തുന്ന ഇതിഹാസമാണ് എം. തങ്കമണി. നമ്പുതിരി സമുദായത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായി വിധവാ വിവാഹം ചെയ്ത് ചരിത്രം സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ശ്രി. എം. ആര്‍. ഭട്ടതിരിപ്പാടിന്റെയും ഉമാ അന്തര്‍ജനത്തിന്റെയും മകളായ് 1948ല്‍ തങ്കമണി ജനിച്ചു. 1964 ല്‍ ആകാശവാണി കോഴിക്കോട് നിലയത്തില്‍ താല്‍കാലിക നിയമനവുമായാണ് ശബ്ദ ലോകത്തെക്ക് എം. തങ്കമണി എത്തുന്നത്, തുടര്‍ന്ന് 1967ല്‍ സ്ഥിരം അവതാരികയായ് മാറി. വീ. ടി. അരവിന്ദാക്ഷന്‍ തിളങ്ങി നിന്ന സൂര്യാഘാതം, സിംഹാസനം, ഒരു മുത്തശ്ശി കഥ, പ്രഹേളിക തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി നാടകങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുകയും അവതരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
