Newsleader – എണ്‍പത്തിയാറു വര്‍ഷത്തെ രാജചരിത്രമാണ് ടൗണ്‍ഹാളിന്റേത്. രാജഭരണ കാലത്തു ഭരണസിരാകേന്ദ്രമായിരുന്ന ചെമ്പൂക്കാവില്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ടൗണ്‍ഹാളിന്റെ 86 വര്‍ഷത്തെ ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായിട്ടായിരുന്നു പഴമ നിലനിര്‍ത്തിയുള്ള അടിമുടി നവീകരണം. 3 കോടി രൂപ ചെലവഴിച്ച് ആധുനിക സൗകര്യങ്ങളോടെയാണു ടൗണ്‍ഹാള്‍ നവീകരിച്ചത്. കൊളോണിയല്‍ രീതിയില്‍ നിര്‍മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കെട്ടിടത്തിന്റെ തറ, ചുമരുകള്‍ എന്നിവയിലെ കേടുപാടുകളെല്ലാം പരിഹരിച്ച് ഭംഗിയാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതോടൊപ്പം ചോര്‍ച്ച പരിഹരിച്ച് സീലിങ് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള മേല്‍ക്കൂരയുടെ നവീകരണവും പെയിന്റിങ്ങും പൂര്‍ത്തിയായി. പൈതൃക കെട്ടിട സംരക്ഷണ പദ്ധതിയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തി പൊതുമരാമത്ത് വകുപ്പിന്റെ കെട്ടിട വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ മേല്‍നോട്ടത്തിലായിരുന്നു നവീകരണം. 2.9 ഏക്കറില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ടൗണ്‍ഹാള്‍, കൊച്ചി മഹാരാജാവ് 1938ല്‍ പണികഴിപ്പിച്ചതാണ്
